About Us
Shropshire Quilters is a very active, friendly, non-profit-making group of about 100 members from all walks of life and of various ages and abilities, all having a common interest in quilting as a pastime.
Founded in autumn 1981 by a group of about six ladies, we meet every month (except August and December) at: Mereside Community Centre, Springfield, Shrewsbury SY2 6LH where we enjoy talks by a variety of visiting speakers, discuss our own and the work of others, hold regular ‘workshops’ or browse the stock of visiting traders.
Membership costs a mere £10.00 per annum, and at least once a year we have a free group trip to an exhibition of our choice. Members' attendance at scheduled workshops costs £20 (non-members - £25) Non-members may also attend meetings as visitors for £2.00
We maintain a fairly comprehensive up-to-date library of quilting books for use by members. Shropshire Quilters regularly organises coach trips to exhibitions and traders. There are several 'local groups' of members who meet more regularly to work together.
Every two years we arrange our own local Shropshire Quilting Exhibition to display and maybe sell our own work.
